 Awoken and Angry

Humming, the young lawyer walked into the cemetery. She was garmented in a black suit and her suitcase and carried with her some flowers for a grave. It wasn't that she didn't respect the dead, 'cause she did, it was just that she had some good news to one of her 'clients', Clover, the dead girl.

"You hear me, Clover?" She said with a smile. "We won!" She found the grave and put the flowers on it. "Thanks to you, we won the trial. Your killer is sent away for many, many years." Carissa couldn't help but being happy; she had awoken the dead girl's spirit only days before to get some facts about the murder, and now the murderer was locked away.

With a smile for their victory she crouched down next to the tombstone. A candle was taken out of her pocket and a lighter too. She lighted the candle and placed it next to the flowers. "You lived your life, like a candle in the wind..."

She tightened the black lace around her neck and stood up. With a sad smile on her face, Carissa Blackwood walked away from the grave and wandered among the other graves to see if she could find someone she knew.

Is little Miss Know-it-all tired of us, scared perhaps? Why do you seek us so lustily if you don't want to join us? Calling the Dead, are we? Asking questions now, are we? Don't really care about the Dead, do we? You awoke us, you'll feel our anger when time is right.

Carissa turned around, ending up looking like a dog chasing its tail. "Where are you? Show yourself or be gone!" Carissa hissed at the spirit talking to her. She closed her eyes, held her breath and walked a few steps before opening her eyes again.

"Hey, come on know can't somebody just take a..."

It was weird why Richard visited this cemetery on such a regular basis. It wasn't like his feeling towards the dead in that place were anything but pure contempt. If he wanted to walk around the deceased why did he just take a stroll through the warehouse district where bodies were just waiting to be carried away to be dumbed someplace else with all the rest of the trash. A morbid thought but in essence wasn't a graveyard no different. Just a glorified dump. So why did he insist on making so many friggan visits there? Nothing else to do probably.

It had been one such walk through the cemetery when he had heard the lady snap at somebody. At first he had expected the words to be directed towards himself but perhaps Ryan had been giving himself just a bit too much credit. He could tell very well by the look in the woman's eyes and the piece of Black Lace around her neck. She was sensing something and by the way she had decorated the grave it must have been a spirit. She was surely a necromancer and off the bat not one of Ryan's favorite people.

Necromancers always drew profit away from him. He was solitary in his art of blood reading, an art that most people didn't feel was sanitary. There were those however that didn't like to anger the dead and so they turned to Ryan. It appeared that this necromancer had done just that, pissed off a dead person.

Ryan stood where he was, out of the way, and watched. This could get interesting.

Someone else had arrived, a young man. Luckily for Carissa, he stood some feet away, out of the way. She didn't want to bump into him or anything should she have to move a little to find the spirit. She had no idea who it was or where the grave stood.

Show ourselves, you command. Know us, you don't. She heard them talk to her again, something that was starting to annoy her. Who could she have awoken without meaning to do so? Muriel? Clover? As far as she knew, Muriel was still alive, but could it be Clover, the girl she had called right before the trial and that had seemed like such a nice spirit, that had turned her anger toward Carissa?

"Clover?" Carissa whispered. The spirit didn't answer, just making a wind blow around her, making her put her red hair away behind her ears. "Be gone, spirit. If you won't say your name, show yourself or be gone, I will never look at you ever again, not see the weak shimmer that you are, I'm taking away what I give to strengthen you!"

But it is so much fun to anger you, we say. Danger, it is, to call upon the Dead. A few seconds of silence followed the voice of the spirit. Clover is restless. You woke me. The faint form of a girl became visible. You woke Clover from her sleep. Why?

"I told you: I needed some answers to win the case, to get your killer sentenced. Find the light, Clover. Your time here is over, you death avenged. Be gone! Seek the light." Carissa whispered at the ghost of the girl.

In reply, the ghost ran at her, pushing her backward before it disappeared. Clover was gone again, only this time she was gone for good. She had been called a few days before, but not this day, so why she came back was a mystery to Carissa, but hopefully, it was over now.

Carissa found a tombstone with her hands behind her back and stopped the fall that was coming and steadied her self back on her feet. She walked over to the man standing there and smiled. "Hi. Carissa Blackwood," she reached out her hand, "sorry about that."
